Basic Genetics

While listening to the Tour of Basics tour I learned many things about heredity and traits. Heredity is the passing of traits from parents to children. We all inherit certain qualities from our parents. Our parents each pass on one set of 23 chromosomes (which make up our traits) to us. Since this is done randomly each set of chromosomes that a new baby receives is different and that's what makes a person special in their own way. The child may resemble either the mother or the father!
A trait is a notable feature or quality that we receive from our parents that is passed down from generation to generation. Each of us has a different combination of traits which also makes us different from everyone else on the world. Traits are like safes, they each have a different combination. Physical traits are traits like your hair color and eye color, most of the time you get these qualities from your parents, sometimes from your grandparents! Behavioral traits are another type of traits that you can get from your parents. Parents are not the only things that make you how you are but also your environment.
I find this to be very interesting we are all different some people have green eyes some people have hazel. If we were all copies of one another I don't know what I would do! It is good to be recognized in a community for your own special talent, a talent that everyone should know about. Everyone should stand out in the crowd, and be an individual!
